Technorama, Masoala, Gottfried Keller

The Technorama in Winterthur is a science centre. Here you may touch everything and experiment yourself, for example with light, magnets or water. In other museums you can usually only look at the exhibits, for example in the Reinhart Collection «Am Römerholz» or in the Fotomuseum, which are also in Winterthur.

In the city of Zurich there are many well-known museums, for example the Swiss National Museum, the Kunsthaus and the Museum Rietberg. Zurich Zoo is also very popular. It has the Masoala Hall. This is a large hall with a rainforest like on the island of Madagascar. Animals and plants from Madagascar live there, for example lemurs and chameleons.

Gottfried Keller (1819 to 1890) was a famous Zurich writer. He was also a painter and politician. His best-known book is the novel «Der grüne Heinrich» (Green Henry). He also wrote the stories «Die Leute von Seldwyla» (The People of Seldwyla). For many years he worked as State Secretary (Staatsschreiber) of the canton of Zurich. He is one of the most important Swiss authors of the 19th century.
