Street Parade, Theater Spektakel, Weltklasse

The Street Parade is a big techno festival in Zurich. It took place for the first time in 1992 and is also very well known abroad. Every summer hundreds of thousands of people dance around the lake basin. The Street Parade stands for love, peace, freedom, generosity and tolerance. Its music is electronic, not folk music.

The Zürcher Theater Spektakel takes place every year in August on the Landiwiese on Lake Zurich. Groups from all over the world show theatre, dance and music there. Another big festival is the Albanifest in Winterthur, with around 100'000 visitors. In many municipalities there is also a «Chilbi» with festival stalls and rides.

Weltklasse Zürich is a well-known athletics meeting at the Letzigrund stadium. The best athletes in the world compete there. Other sports events take place elsewhere: the Engadin Skimarathon in the canton of Graubünden, the Swiss Indoors (tennis) in Basel, the Schweizer Frauenlauf in Bern.
